2014 roundup

Hello everyone!
It's been a long and busy year and it's finally come to an end. During the last 365 days I managed to break my finger which threw off my entire vacation plans, I read way to many books and watched way too many films. I managed not to be totally consumed by schoolwork (that wasn't too tricky). I took quite a lot of photographs, though not as many as I'd wished. I ironed a huuuuuge pile of clothes waiting to be ironed from summer, started this blog and spent loads of time with my friends. It's been a good year!

Gabriel Macht, Suits and some more goodies

Hi everyone!
Gabriel Macht is an American actor - STOP! and rewind, could we just take a second to bathe in the amazing creature that is Gabriel Macht. *second passes* He's the main character in the TV series called Suits. (Another thing I'm currently in love with). Here's what the film's about:

 Mike, once a college scholarship recipient and on his way to becoming a law student at Harvard University, was kicked out of college for selling the answers to a math test he had memorized, ruining his chances of attending law school. Mike instead makes a living as a bicycle messenger, and is convinced by his friend, Trevor, to take part in a marijuana deal. The deal happens to be a sting operation which Mike astutely discovers and narrowly avoids, instead stumbling into a job interview with Harvey, a lawyer at Pearson Hardman and arguably the "best closer in New York City". Recently made senior partner, Harvey must hire a Harvard-educated lawyer as an associate, as per firm policy. Using his eidetic memory and legal knowledge, Mike proves to Harvey he is undoubtedly the best candidate and is consequently hired, despite neither receiving a college degree nor attending Harvard. The series focuses on Mike and Harvey as they try cases for the firm while maintaining Mike's secret.

The film is amazing. The enticing story, the superb actors, the great filming it practically leaves nothing more to wish for. Aaron Korsh created a masterpiece which I fully recommend to all of you.

Since You've Been Gone: review

Hi everybody!

Today I'd like to present you with a review of one of my fave books - Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. Since You've Been Gone is a story about 2 best friends...well actually through most of
the book only one.

Emily and Sloane have been besties for the last two years. School has ended and the two girls had made plans for the summer long ago. But something goes wrong - Sloane doesn't show up, not on the first day of vacation, nor the second nor third nor ever. She just disappears into thin air. Emily gets a letter from her with a list of 13 things she is supposed to do. Em hopes that when she finishes them she'll be able to find her friend. Will she? What'll happen when the list ends?

Matsons' writing is simple, which makes the novel light and pleasant to read. The book starts slowly but picks up after the first chapter. It's a book that's hard to put down. The novel is really enticing, full of drama, first love, friendship, hidden secrets and a journey about self-discovery. I loved the book and recommend it. It's a perfect summer read (I know it's winter at least here but that doesn't matter, anyone who wants a light read, a bit on the longish side, came to the right place).

Christmas Eve

Hi everyone!
Christmas Eve is finally here. As we all know it's a magical time of the year during which we meet up with the family, give gifts and eat delicious food. Outside the snow twinkles in the rays of sunshine, while deer and rabbits make their way through the snowy fields. In the evening we all wait for the first star to appear then we sit down to eat. People have time to catch up on what's going on and share their experiences of the past year. After the meal, children run to the Christmas tree and give out gifts to everyone. We talk some more over tea and cakes, then it's time to leave. The guests get dressed and say goodbye. We wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Later on the hosts clean up and have the rest of the evening to relax.

That would be a perfect Christmas (which it usually is), but for now, here in Poland everyone is still waiting for the snow to fall. Isn't it just awful - Christmas without snow...it makes me wanna cry.

Christmas traditions

Hello everybody!
I just love Christmas. The festive air makes me so joyful! Our household doesn't have many traditions but there are some things that I just have to do to make everything more...christmasy.

1. Having and decorating a perfect Christmas tree

2. Building a gingerbread house

3. Baking delicious gingerbread cookies

4. Building a snowman (unfortunately there is no snow in my town yet)

5. Picking out and packing presents

6. Waiting (usually unfruitfully) to be kissed under the mistletoe

7. Listening to Christmas songs and carols

8. Writing letters to Santa

9. Taking a picture with Santa (no matter how old you are)

10. Making an advent calendar
